Senator Musto joined with Governor Rendell as he stopped at three industrial sites and announced the allocation of more than $21 million in state funds to eight economic development projects.

The funds, in the form of loans, grants and tax credits, will result in the creation of 214 jobs with the potential of 2800 jobs in the region.

Hazleton Chamber

Senator Musto joined Governor Rendell in Hazleton announcing the investment of nearly $3.9 million in economic development funds for three Hazleton area projects.
  • Greater Hazleton Can Do Inc. received a $2.77 million Business in our Sites loan to develop Phase II of Humboldt Industrial Park East
  • Torres and Towers was  offered a financial assistance package of $590,000 for new equipment to support the company's expansion in the Humboldt Industrial Park.
  • Therma Tek Range Corp. was offered a financial package worth $510,000 to expand it's existing manufacturing operations in West Hazleton.  Therma Tek manufactures and provides quality, state of the art gas and electric cooking appliances for the food service industry.

Trion Industries and Wilkes-Barre Chamber

The Governor's economic team has offered Trion Industries, Inc., a financial assistance package of $812,000 to support the company's expansion efforts.  Trion Industries is in the process of expanding its manufacturing capacity in both its plastic and wire divisions in Plains Township.

 

 

 Mericle Development

Governor Rendell, along with Senator Ray Musto, presented checks totaling $13.4 million to the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce.  The funds will support the development of the CenterPoint Commerce and Trade Park East and the former Avoca Yards Railroad site in Duryea Borough.

Both sites are on abandoned mine land that will attract new investment and potentially create more than 2,800 jobs in the region.
