SOLDIERS GET BREAK ON SCHOOL LOANS.....The Armed Forces Loan Forgiveness Program has been extended. “This program is a great opportunity for our servicemen and women,” Senator Musto said.  “I am pleased to note its extension and to see our country’s finest receiving much-deserved help.”   more
Senator Musto urges constituents to review their registration with the PA "Do Not Call" list, and re-register any numbers that are about to expire.   Consumers who first signed-up for the program in 2002 must re-register by Sept. 15, 2007, or their number will be removed from the list.  Registration  is valid for five years from the date of initial registration. Verify enrollment

 

New laws update:

On November 29, 2006, Governor Rendell signed House Bill 2133 (Act 159) into law.

The following change took effect January 28, 2007:

Important Information on the new "Pace Plus" prescription program

Senator Musto is happy to announce that Governor Rendell recently signed legislation establishing the PACE Plus. This program offers eligible older Pennsylvanians one of the most generous prescription assistance plans in the United States.

 
Under PACE Plus, the PACE/PACENET program 'wraps around' federal Medicare Part D prescription coverage - offering the best benefits of both programs.  Older adults continue to receive the same prescription benefits while, in many cases, saving more money.

Senator Musto reminds his constituents to take advantage of available state programs aimed at the elderly and low income. The Senator's staff in Pittston is available to answer questions and assist with program applications.    Please call our office today at 1-800-280-4277.

If you are retired or disabled, and your income is less than $19,200, you qualify for a retired registration fee of $10, a savings of $26 over the regular vehicle registration fee.  If you or a family member qualify for a reduced registration, please call my district office for forms and information.

Civil Service Web Site 

If you are interested in civil service information, be sure to visit the Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission web site.  The site has the current summary of civil service announcements, a recruitment area, and guides to employment for recent high school and college graduates. Announcements, applications and supplements can be downloaded and printed.  Applicants can now apply for certain civil service ratings on-line,  avoiding a paper application.

Additional job opportunities can be found by checking out the CareerLink  site of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor.  A self-directed service system, customers have access to employment, training and other resources, anytime.
