Members of the Pittston Township Volunteer Fire Department visited the Senate Chambers with Senator Ray Musto and Lt. Governor Catherine Baker Knoll.
Senator Ray Musto was sworn in for his seventh term in the Pennsylvania Senate on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2007. Federal Judge D. Michael Fisher (pictured on the right) conducted the  ceremony.  Judge Fisher is a former state senator and colleague of Senator Musto.
   
The Senate Democratic Policy Committee held a hearing in Pittston May 5th on legislation sponsored by Senator Musto that would provide assistance for grandparents who provide primary care for their grandchildren Howard Ondick has more with Senator Ray Musto of Luzerne County, sponsor of the legislation. Governor Rendell, along with Senator Ray Musto, presented checks totaling $13.4 million to the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce.  The funds will support the development of the CenterPoint Commerce and Trade Park East.  Read more on other economic projects announced by the Governor

Senator Musto presented a $500,000 check to help purchase 366 acres of abandoned strip mines for the Cranberry Creek Gateway Park project, a join initiative of CAN DO, Inc. and the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce.  Thanks to this funding and a matching $500,000 grant from the County of Luzerne, the Cranberry Creek Gateway Park project committee is now able to move forward with plans to reclaim the mine-blighted land on the entranceway into the greater Hazleton community.
